Useful tip: Why is the site called 'Swimwire'? The 'swim' part is because, originally, it used to have a fish on the logo, and 'wire' because you can connect 'wires' to all your online profiles.

About Me
From August 2005 through July 2008, Victor Hogstrom served the public television needs of Kansas City, Missouri, as President and CEO of KCPT-TV. Drawing from his long and diverse background in public broadcasting, Victor Hogstrom fulfilled a mandate to effect a substantial turnaround in all facets of KCPT's operations, ushering the station into a new era of success on the local and national stage. In his role of President and CEO, Victor Hogstrom, handled an array of managerial duties including sales, marketing communications, branding, and fundraising. Over the course of his three years with KCPT, Victor Hogstrom pursued a twofold method to initiate sweeping changes within the organization and maintain existing sources of revenue. From the beginning, Victor Hogstrom recognized the areas in need of further development at KCPT and issued the appropriate solutions. Victor Hogstrom built teams, established accountability, developed new professional friendships, and collaborated with a variety of corporate and civic organizations to achieve the station's goals and carry out its mission. By instilling a spirit of entrepreneurship at KCPT, Victor Hogstrom reinforced the station’s mission and paved the way toward reaching long-term goals and objectives as established in the organization's strategic plan, which he led. In the end, Victor Hogstrom generated measurable improvements in the station’s revenues, visibility, viewership, and recognition from within and outside the Greater Kansas City area. The numerous achievements by Victor Hogstrom's collective team during his tenure as President and CEO of KCPT included reducing station’s debts from $7-plus million to $600,000, creating a new sense of efficiency through comprehensive internal restructuring efforts, increasing weekly viewership to 450,000 homes, dramatically improving the bottom line, and acquiring funds to upgrade all analog broadcast and production equipment with digital. "Some of my proudest moments at KCPT include the FCC's approval of our request to increase our digital broadcast signal to 1 million watts after it was hinted by some key staff that it would not be aspproved," said Victor Hogstrom. He continued, "Another proud moment was seeing sponsorship dollars increase over 340% in two years, major increases in individual support, and a failing education department turn into a huge profit center through collaboration and partnerships." In addition, Victor Hogstrom fostered the growth of fully funded local programming by 166 percent, turned KCPT-TV into a 24-hour multicast station, won a number of Missouri Broadcasters Awards and Regional Emmys, and improved staff morale by adding bonus incentives and a full range of employee benefits packages. A popular television personality as well, Victor Hogstrom hosted the regular program “One-On-One with Victor Hogstrom” during his time at KCPT. Victor Hogstrom hosted a similar program in Chattanooga, TN, describing the program as a form of cultivation and collaboration. In this capacity, Victor Hogstrom interviewed some of the most important figures in Kansas City and helped shed light on their endeavors for residents of the area.
